About Me

I am 36 years of age and have spent the last 2 years studying at TAFE Brisbane and have completed my Certificate III in Information Digital Media and Technology with a focus on networking, Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking and Diploma of Information Technology Networking.  I have now been accepted by Central Queensland University in Cairns to do my Bachelor of Information Technology with an internship and start in March 2017.

I have been interested in computers and technology since I was 10 years of age when my father bought our first Intel 286 PC in 1989, the days when you had to park a hard drive (lol) I have been using and building computers ever since.  I have used almost every operating system that has been made, from DOS, Windows 2.1 all the way to Windows 10 and also a few Linux distros.  One of my favourite hobbies is building, upgrading and repairing computers which I have been doing almost on an everyday basis. I am also interested in radio communications and have a good understanding of analogue (conventional, simulcast & trunking networks) and digital (P25 & DMR networks).

I have been working in the retail security industry for 15 years and in this time have learned a lot about network security and also CCTV networks now that most companies are switching over to IP cameras.  This is one of the reasons I completed IT networking as everything now relies on it (computers, radio communications, security cameras) plus a lot more that I have not mentioned.

I believe that I have chosen a great industry to have a career in now that the future of I.T is growing fast and strong and that technology is only getting better every day.
